What is Youview?
YouView is a TV software provider that utilises set top boxes, streaming pucks and Smart TVs to create the YouView User Experience. YouView’s TV experience is powered by our reliable, resilient, and secure cloud backend, and our unique firmware allows us to control media playback, security and lower-level components. Our platform delivers variety and convenience by combining On Demand with live TV through an integrated editorial lens, which means our users get the best rich and relevant TV content across both free and pay services.

- An intuitive search tool which makes it simple to find your favourite programme
- Catch up from UK’s leading Players
- The option of extra paid for On Demand programmes and films

The YouView experience is available as part of broadband bundles through TalkTalk, BT and EE.
YouView’s simply smart software is is also available on a range of Sony Android TVs and through Freely, a British free-to-air IPTV service. At present it is offered on Bush, Sharp, and Hisense TVs, with more manufacturers to come.
Do you offer hybrid working?
Yes, at YouView we strive to support our employees to do their best work by encouraging flexibility while staying connected. We also know that choice and flexibility are important and what works for some may not work for others.
Do you offer flexible work schedules?
Yes, many of our people have agreed flexible working contracts with their manager, such as part time working, compressed hours, and different start and end times. Collaboration is super important to us though, so it's important that working patterns align with regular meetings and events to include other colleagues during a normal working day. Changes to our standard employment contracts are made on a case by case basis following discussion and agreement with managers and the People team. If you're applying for a role with us and this is something you'd like to explore, please talk to the talent team.
Can I work abroad?
Yes, you can work “away from London” for up to 8 weeks in any one financial year with agreement from your manager. You’ll need to ensure you’re able to attend the regular collaborative meetings and events.
Typically teams attend the office together to maximise collaboration and share experiences. You'll also be required to attend the office for certain events such as face to face training and our twice per year all staff events.
However, please note that all our employees have UK based employment contracts and we do not employ anyone in different jurisdictions. This is both to ensure our great culture is maintained and for tax and legal purposes.
Do you hire apprentices, interns, and new graduates?
Yes, we love bringing new talent into our team and developing our software engineers of the future. Every other year, we hire into a two year software engineering programme which gives participants the opportunity to work in all parts of our technology function.
We offer work experience opportunities to students at Ada College, and depending upon business requirements we sometimes have opportunities for interns and apprentices.
Learn more about careers and find open job vacancies here, and if you’d like to talk to someone in our talent team please message them here.
Can I see any of YouView’s policies before I start?
Yes, if you’d like to read any of our policies during your selection process, please reach out to our Talent team. We’re happy to share our Hybrid Working Policy, our Working Away Policy, our Family leave policies and information to support colleagues with disabilities.
What's the interview process at YouView?
Your first call with one of our talent partners will include a relaxed discussion about your skills, experience, and the type of role you are looking for, along with more details on the vacant role and YouView in general.
For technical roles, there will be three interviews with the hiring team. These include a competency technical and a values-based interview.
For non tech roles, there are also three interviews with the hiring team. These include a competency check, a presentation and values-based interview.
Most interviews are now conducted via Microsoft Teams, although we do sometimes ask candidates to come to the office for the final stage.
How do I make an accessibility request?
We always ask all candidates at the beginning of the recruitment process if they require any adjustments as part of their application and will accommodate these accordingly.
You'll be invited to tell us about any accessibility requirements you may need at the point you submit your application. Our talent partners will follow this up with you so we fully understand what adjustments we need to make to support you.
